Tangier airport taxi: how it works

Grand taxis wait outside the terminal and serve the airport. Fares to the centre are commonly around 100 to 150 dirhams depending on the time of day, but always confirm the price first. Petit taxis, the small blue cars you see in the street, work inside the city and are best for short rides once you are in town.

By bus or by train

A city bus line links the airport with the centre. It is the cheapest option but slower, with limited service late in the evening. There is no train station at the airport: the high-speed trains of Al Boraq leave from Tangier Ville station, in the city. If you arrive late or with children and luggage, a taxi or a rental car is more comfortable.

Why a rental car beats a Tangier airport transfer from Ibn Battouta Airport

For a taxi, you pay every time you move. For a car, you pay by the day, and the car is yours for the coast road, the medina parking areas and the day trips that make northern Morocco special. If you plan to see Asilah, Tetouan or Chefchaouen, a rental car at the airport is cheaper than several taxis. Our Tangier airport car rental service delivers the car to the arrivals hall with the contract and the keys ready.

  • Meet and greet. Your agent follows your flight and waits at arrivals.
  • Fast handover. The paperwork is prepared in advance; check the car, sign and go.
  • Drop anywhere. Return the car at the airport, the port or a hotel in Tangier.

Which way from Tangier airport to city centre suits you?

  • Solo traveller with a light bag: the bus or an airport taxi.
  • Couple staying in the medina: a Tangier airport taxi to the hotel, then a rental car delivered later for day trips.
  • Family with luggage: a private transfer or a rental car at arrivals.
  • Late-night arrival: a pre-booked Tangier airport transfer or a car waiting at the airport, because public services are limited after dark.
  • Business traveller: a car delivered to the arrivals hall for meetings across the region.

Whatever you choose, plan the Tangier airport to city centre trip before you land: the arrivals hall can be busy when several flights from Europe arrive together.

Two airport taxi rides cost roughly 250 dirhams in total, and each excursion by taxi or organised tour adds far more.
